What are the ladies chances this weekend? Does yahoo cover women's college hoops too. I know it won't get broadcast anywhere near where I can see it, but it would be nice to follow along. Minus the shalacking at Duke they ladies are playing well. Would love to see them ranked.

Very odd to see them ranked ahead of the men, but I'm excited for them. definitely not trying to jinx them but I am excited about the propects of a win.

Agree, buckethead. Would be nice to see them ranked and that will happen if they win tomorrow night. It's a tall order, especially at Gampel. I hope their players underestimate us. Geno certainly won't.

STORRS — UConn senior Ann Strother has been bothered by pain in the top of her left foot for a couple of weeks. The pain did not affect her play, but rather than let the ailment develop into something more serious she decided to alert coach Geno Auriemma and team trainer Rosemary Ragle of her situation Thursday night. Strother had X-rays taken Friday morning. She was held out of practice as a precaution and went for further tests Friday night. Auriemma said Friday that she has a stress reaction and her status for tonight's game against St. John's at Gampel Pavilion (7; CPTV) in uncertain.

"She's not one to complain about a lot of things, so when she said something about it bothering her I think it kind of raised a red flag a little bit,'' Auriemma said. "I talked to her (Friday) morning and she said that it doesn't bother when she's walking around. And usually a bad sign is it hurts when you're playing and it hurts when you're just walking around. So that leads us to believe that we got it in time.''

Strother, who was wearing a protective boot for the first time Friday, was fitted for a support device that will be inserted into her shoe. She leads the seventh-ranked Huskies in scoring (16.1), assists (3.8) and minutes (32.1).

In four games prior to scoring a season-low five points in 31 minutes in Thursday's victory over Cincinnati, Strother was averaging 20.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists.

Auriemma said that Charde Houston, who missed four games last month with a stress reaction in her right foot, Brittany Hunter or Willnett Crockett would start if Strother is unable to play.

"I'm planning on (playing),'' Strother said. "It's not something I think that is a serious issue at all. So I'm really not worried about it."
