I seem to recall that Coach Barnes Arico signed a good recruiting class in the fall. I tried to find it on redstormsports.com, but was unable to do so.
Can anyone supply the information about who is coming in next year as well as any potential prospects for the spring signing period?
Thanks a lot.

Mark I posted all of that info in the fall. Not exactly sure where at this moment and I am very busy.
To summarise a 4 person class to date. 4 solid players , no stars on paper.
Staff is out still recruiting hard for next season.

Thanks for responding. I knew that someone had posted the information, but I couldn't remember who or when.
Glad to hear that a solid class is coming in. I plan on seeing some womens games at CA next year.
They are an exciting team and deserve our support.

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's head women's basketball coach Kim Barnes Arico announced today the signing of Victoria Hodges, Joy McCorvey, Arecia "Recee" Mitchell and Allie Patterson to National Letters of Intent to play for the Red Storm beginning in 2006.
"We are bringing in four quality players from quality programs," said Barnes Arico. "We're excited about this national recruiting class because they all have experience at a high level and are students of the game. Academically, they are good students who will help us continue to do well in the classroom, which is something we emphasize. They are quality student-athletes."
Victoria Hodges (Farmington, Conn.) averaged a double-double with 12.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game last season for Farmington High School. In 2004-05, she was a member of the Coaches All-State Team, the New Britain Herald All-Conference Team and the All-Academic Team. After Farmington won the NW Conference Tournament, Hodges was named Most Valuable Player.
"Victoria has great size; she is 6-3 and strong," Barnes Arico said. "She is aggressive and a tough defender that will give us a needed inside presence."
Joy McCorvey (Brewton, Ala.) is the second student-athlete to commit to play basketball for St. John's out of Alabama in the last two years, as she will join current freshman Angel Tate on the Red Storm roster. Described by Coach Barnes Arico as "fiery, tenacious and passionate," McCorvey led T.R. Miller High School by averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds per game as a junior. She was a top three finalist for The Birmingham News' Miss Basketball Award, and was chosen for the Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Game.
"I loved watching Joy play this summer," Barnes Arico said. "She plays both ends of the floor and is an exciting, athletic player."
Arecia "Recee" Mitchell (Tyler, Texas) averaged 14.8 points and 9.8 rebounds for John Tyler High School. A first team All-District and second team All-East Texas selection, Mitchell's team was ranked as high as fourth in the nation during her sophomore season. That year, the forward was named Newcomer of the Year in East Texas.
"Recee has a strong, physical post presence," Barnes Arico said. "She has a great energy level and finishes well around the basket."
Allie Patterson (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) will join St. John's from the Golden State, and will be the first Californian on the Red Storm roster since the 2002-03 season. She led her high school squad with 10 double-doubles, including a single-game school record 36-point game as a junior. After averaging 15 points and seven rebounds per game that year, she was named to the first team All-Baseline League, All Inland Valley and All California State Team. She was also named an honorable mention All-American by Street & Smith.
"Allie is a 6-1 post player who has great speed and can defend," Barnes Arico said. "She is quick, great off the dribble and gets to the basket well. She is the type of player that can play inside or outside."

A little more on Mitchell. She was a preseason top 50 player in the state of Texas. She also plays at the highest level -- 5A -- in the state.
Her team didn't make the playoffs, but the team that won her district was the state runner-up.
She chose St. John's over McNeese State, Texas State, South Florida and New Mexico.
Mitchell has averaged just shy of 15 points and 10 rebounds per game the past two seasons.
"I love their academics," Mitchell says. "I plan to be a surgeon and there's only 16 people to a class so you really get to learn." As for the basketball program, she added, "It was a rebuilding program and now they are ranked like number 23 in the polls."

Patterson plays at a high school about 15 minutes from my home. Too bad I did not know she was going to SJU, otherwise I would have gone to one of their games. The boys program at that school spent a great deal of time in 04-05 as the #1 team in the country.

I had a long conversation with one of the men's coaches from a Baseline League team tonight about Allie Patterson. I'm close with our college's women's bball coach who recruited Allie Patterson's teammate at Los Osos HS. Both said that she is CLEARLY talented. According to both, she is fast enough and skilled enough to take over games--D-1 talent to be sure. Something they both said gives me a little pause, though. I don't want this to appear as bashing a recruit, so take this info for what you will.
Both the men's coach and our college coach said that Allie is very very talented, but worry about her mental makeup. "Attitude" was a word that was brought up on both occasions. She transferred from Los Osos to Rancho for her senior year and there appeared to be coach/player conflicts at L.O. and her effort was questioned by some.
Seeing how Coach Barnes-Arico put the team together this year, I have no doubt that if there are personality issues, they'll work themselves out. However, since there is never much info shared on women's recruits, I figured I'd share what I've heard (good, bad, or otherwise) from two very close sources.
