Should the Met's Bring Back Joe ??

Hey Jersey Shore, I really like what he brought to the team. I have no idea what they are thinking but assuming Lowrie is back could make it tough for playing time. Panik might have to consider other opportunities if playing time or minor league assignment is possible. Of course, one injury to someone and he would be in position to play. He is a heady ball player, we could do worse.

I am definitely biased because he is an SJU grad, but watching him play I think he is a throwback second baseman. He makes contact, hits behind the runner, turns the double play, hits where the ball is pitched. Solid major leaguer and if he sits, could step in and provide quality play in the IF.

Agree on having an SJU bias as to Panic but I don't think Lowrie is a step up from Joe. Joe actually has a higher career average BUT most importantly Lowrie will be 36 next season and is coming off injury while Joe will be 29 next season and given Cano's age and late history of injury a back up is of high concern. Keep Joe and get rid of Lowrie is my thought.

Panik is a World Series hero. There aren't many who can play well in the clutch. He's one.

I agree but the Mets will not eat either Lowrie or Cano salaries. I don’t know if Lowrie’s is guaranteed but I’m sure Cano’s is.

Like it or not this is about money. Lowrie, healthy or not is due 10M in 2020. Obviously untradeable and so he will be here. Even without Frazier (thank god) they still have a glut of 2B/3B options. Cano at 2B backed up by McNeill. Lowrie at 3B backed up by Davis. Also, McNeill moves back to the infield if Cespedes ever returns. I know everyone says he’ll never play again but it’s not up to you or the Mets. 29M albatross in his walk year and me thinks he is gonna try. Did I mention that our current top prospect Gimenez is also a 2B?

So yes it’s going to be complicated.
