Five-star Chet Holmgren has booked two unofficial visits for this weekend: He will visit Georgetown and Maryland, a source told @Stockrisers. 7-footer is having an amazing spring.

I guess Patrick Ewing's ability to recruit top notch big men was underestimated. In fact, his ability to rebuild Gtown at all was underestimated. Appears to be doing a very credible job, after what appeared to be a me too hire.

Agreed. I perceive Patrick to have a strong work ethic. I also think succeeding in this job means a lot to him.

#1) I do not know the constraints put on Chris financially not to hire another assistant once the school had a multi year commitment to Slice. I have no idea what he was asked to do, or volunteered to do. Remember, once federally subsidized student loans went away, the school had a financial crisis with freshmen enrollment dropping by 500. Bobby G. froze salaries and instituted belt tightening across the board. That being said, Mullin was allowed to waste money on Mitch, which I believe was not an insignificant factor in his release.

#2) Although Mullin recruiting effort has been questioned, my point is that with inner city kids I believe Georgetown and Ewing always resonated much stronger than St. John's and Mullin. I worked uptown Manhattan in our Mullin years, and just about every inner city kid wearing college gear (mostly expensive jackets, and there was a ton of those kids), wore Georgetown stuff. All in all, Ewing was the beast of college basketball, the number 1 pic of the draft, and did his NBA work on some very good New York teams. As such he was much more visible than Mullin, who played largely for non contending teams on the West Coast.

Victor Page, who shared a backcourt with Allen Iverson for the Georgetown Hoyas in the mid-90s, will spend the next 20 years in prison after agreeing to a plea deal for a vicious assault on a 17-year old woman.

Arrested at least 33 times and released early after a prior vicious assault, that says it all.

Good player. but injury prone it appears

“Marquette's Greg Elliott will miss 3-4 months after undergoing ankle surgery, per release. Redshirted last season for the Golden Eagles”

except he can get his college degree anytime. If you have a chance to go in the first round of the NBA draft, you take it.

Agree. But, realizing that you are not going in the first round seems to be a challenge for many. I applaud whoever is advising Powell. He is a kid that, depending on the depth at his position, could play himself into the first round.
