offered Mark Jackson, Pearl Washington and Kenny Smith and said the first to accept would be a Redman. I also recall Mark was not a happy camper when he didn’t play full time from the start...
Was it Mike Moses in his way ?
( And that’s the rest of the story -
Paul Harvey )

Dear General
Your recollection is perfect.

Mark Jackson had a nice career for sure. He was very lucky though as he was slow as crap on defense and was beat many times by point guards with a quick first step.

Porgyman wrote: You guys are absolutely correct. Mark is a genuinely nice guy. I grew up in the same neighborhood as Mark. Little known fact. He was a horrible player in Junior High School. He was always the last guy selected for pickup games at O’Connell park.
Then, all of a sudden he grew taller, worked on his game, and by high school, was an incredible player.
I was a year ahead of him at St. John’s, that picture of him standing outside of Bent Hall in the 1985 yearbook was taken by yours truly!

He is a true testament to hard work, belief in family and all other good things.

You know now I am going to have to dig out my 85 Yearbook to look for that picture,
