St. John's is 'very confident' that Rasheem Dunn will get a waiver to play this season, source tells me.
Zagoria

This seems inevitable.

Don't count Justin out of getting a little time in NBA. Size, athleticism & work ethic are ideal, if only someone can work with him on his open jump shot, he is there. Stranger things have happened.

I posted that he'd play in more NBA games than Ponds, so I need him to stick.

Boo......liked it better with the center court, overhead scoreboard. It made it look like a "real" arena.

With Carnesecca, it's a constant battle to hide from the high school gym look.

Today's open practice was a nice addition to the "schedule" to get a pre-season view of the team.
Yes the mid court score board/replay is gone but the two end zone screens will show the replays. The arena is definitely brighter.
The practice ran about 2 hours and 20 minutes and I was got tired watching the energy expended by the team and coaches (PS CMA very involved for the entire time along with Steve; TJ and Van were away recruiting). This was the team's second practice today (they had a 6AM practice also (apparently CMA has 2 a days on Sat and Sun).
Not suited up were Greg, Jr. and McGriff. Everyone else practiced. Can definitely see body change for Heron and Figgy and both seemed to lead. David was an eye opener--making shots from all over and nice touch underneath. There are basically 5 "big men" based on break outs for some drills (Steere, Sears, Roberts, Earl and Champaigne). Steere despite his bulk likes to play outside while Sears gets inside. The other 3 try hard but Josh has limited range, Earl has to develop BB instincts to be doing it naturally rather than reactive, and Bubbles showed good instinctive BB skills and will get time.
Heron and Figgy are in a class of their own. As I said David has a very good stoke and picks up instruction from coach. Dunn is quick and both he an Rutherford will be slashing to the hoop. Both also showed some good defensive potential. O'Connell and Coles got minutes in lieu of the MIA's but should not be counted on for game time.

When I spoke with Mike Cragg at Media Day, he was very proud about this new look.

. NC Johnnie, agree with everything you said about Simon, except the last part about his shooting . Justin played for Sean Miller at Arizona , a very good shooter in his days at Pitt and Chris Mullin here, one of the great shooters of all time and neither could help Justin shoot the rock over those 4 years . It’s too bad , his BB DNA just doesn’t include a jump shot . At this point in his career , he’s not going to get it either . I hope , like you , that his other abilities might get him a spot on somebody’s bench . BTW, any one know how Ponds is doing ?
