Yeah, the solid big is the elusive piece to the puzzle. Has been for decades really.

Paul Biancardi tweeted this and I think these points are ones that Anderson and Co. are going to be better that than some/most of our prior staffs.

“Five common mistakes in the EVALUATION PROCESS.

1.AFRAID OF BEING WRONG
2.THINKING THAT “GREAT TALENT” IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE “RIGHT TALENT”
3.UNDERESTIMATING MOTOR
4.CHASING THE UNCOACHABLE PROSPECT
5.NOT IDENTIFYING WHAT MAKES A PLAYER TICK”

We’ve made a ton of mistakes on these things in the past. Cma’s prior success has
Something to to with this I’m sure. Even the best don’t always get it right (Jahvon Quinerly), but getting the “right” players is what separates consistently good coaches from the rest.

I'm fine with JUCOs as one source of recruiting, and more comfortable with this staff doing so because of Anderson's historical success in that market plus TJ and Demeo's knowledge of the space. There just needs to be recruiting balance.

Time will tell for sure, but verdict on 2020 recruiting is very far away at this point.

True, but LJ is a massive outlier for JUCO success. We've relied heavily on JUCOs for the past 7/8 years and I can't think of anyone as good as LJ. JUCOs are fine to help fill out a team (and sometimes lead like LJ), but after the last few years I'm ready to get some quality 4 year high school recruits again.

Not with Coach Anderson, he's had massive JUCO success throughout his career.

His 2016 class he landed 3 of the top 6 JUCO players in that class. 2 of them were all SEC players, and one of them currently plays for the Dallas Mavericks. Both were 1,000 point scorers in just two years.

He recruited a kid named Mason Jones last year from JUCO, he averaged 13 PPG his first year, with multiple 30 point games. Before that he had guys like Jabril Durham and Coty Clarke who were team captains and big contributors. Clarke played on 10 day contracts in the NBA.

And all these guys are just from the last few years during his time at Arkansas. He had JUCO players at Mizzou that help lead them to an elite 8.

Which is why I think Demeo was also brought on board and why I think the 2020 class will have at least 2 juco’s in it. Between CMA, Cleveland and Demeo, we should have a very strong juco presence, and these guys are often more physically ready to compete.

Posh
Zed Key or Cliff O (or a comparable big I'm unaware of)
a JUCO or Grad wing who can score to help bridge the gap after LJ and Heron leave.
and give me one more talented, high 3 star or low 4 star with upside like Kadary Richmond (or the equivalent)

I think that would be a home run class that would certainly make a statement. If they're able to land someone like Diarra or Curbelo or grab both Zed and Cliff it would move up to a Grand Slam class. That being said, land Posh first and we're halfway home to a solid group.

Would absolutely sign off on a class of Posh, Zed, and Richmond.
