Going to happen at a lot of place, unfortunately. I assume anyone who doesn't play big-time football will have non-revenue-drawing sports on the chopping block first, but even schools backed by football money will start cutting if all sports are cut for next season.

Golf seemed like it would be a sure bet to be safe, though. Who's out there with you? You can definitely social distance on a golf course.

I don't think it's a safety play as much as cost savings.

A golf head coach and travel, course fees etc. cant be overlooked if cost cutting happening on the academic and admin side of a school

Let's remember the other part of the equation is Title IX. Pandemic is step one but then Title IX needs to be maintained so its double edge sword

Notre Dame will cancel its fall break, end its fall semester by Thanksgiving, and welcome students back to campus during the week of August 10th, per release.

South Carolina announced something similar yesterday; Marquette and Creighton also going that way.

Interesting game of chicken colleges are playing. I'm intrigued and somewhat impressed by their flexibility and creativity.

Can somebody explain what they’re trying to do? I didn’t read the release and not understanding exactly the plan?

Start semester a little earlier it seems. Eliminate breaks somewhat and have finals before thanksgiving. Semester ends before the flu season really gets underway.
