I think you are likely to be dissapointed.

From what I've seen from this staff so far, I don't think they are approaching how they recruit from the perspective of landing more top 50 guys. Seems they are looking for a specific type of personality over a specific ranking. I could be wrong, but I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Many people on this board "pooh poohed" the signing of Champagnie thinking that he wasn't a Big East caliber player. Well, kudos to Julian. He has proven that he certainly belongs at this level and has been a significant contributor to the success of our team to date. Forget about being overrated - if anything, he has exceeded most peoples expectations.

Champagnie has the potential to be a fine four year player for us
Julian has skills - he can shoot, he can rebound and he plays defense
I, for one, am very glad that Julian is at St John's
Overrated - hardly. If anything, he's been underrated!!!

Underrated for sure, especially as a recruit. By way of comparison, he is averaging approximately 26 mpg, 10 ppg, 6 rebounds, shooting 46% from the field, 77% from the line and 28% from three.
Jeremiah Earl Robinson, Nova's five star recruit picked as preseason BE freshman of the year is averaging 31 mpg, 11 ppg, 9 rebounds and shooting 45% from the field, 85% from the line and 29% from three.

Justin was a great pickup and as Mark Redman says should be a important four year guy for us. We need more of those as we rebuild the program.

The one sport where stats are deceiving. Champaignie is a very nice addition for a team like ours but if you switched Robinson for him, Robinson would be putting up bigger numbers and Justin might not see the light of day.

Just wondering if Earlington should replace Champagnie in the starting lineup. Marcellus has had some strong games recently while Julian's game has been quiet.

I don’t think Champagnie is overrated. I am intrigued by a switch up to the starting lineup with Earlington and Roberts. Roberts is getting pushed out of position. Some more beef might help down there. Plus the kid has been the most consistent player to date. I wouldn’t mind seeing a change to see how he does in that role. Champagnie will be fine either way, and it may help him loosen up as it is less pressure to come off the bench as to start the game.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Heron come off the bench as well. Let him feel his way back to his role instead of forcing him out there.

The duke has earned it. There is no reason why Champaignie should be starting over him at this point. This is a must win game and earlington has been one of our best players. get him in there.
