Seems like there are a lot of Jims posting these days. Get rid of or bench Heron? That's falling on one's head material. He is a skilled player that should only be benched for lack of effort. He drew a charge in the second half and seemed plenty motivated and excited. He is obviously down on himself. He has to play out of this slump, and probably will.

We all knew, or should have known, how tough this year was going to be. The team's Big East difficulties should remind us that conference play is like the NBA playoffs. Every shot, every rebounded, is contested. It's a totally different dynamic than the OOC. . Every team has been scouted to the max, and every tendency a player has is known. The shooting difficulties are no surprise. A longer 3 point line for a poor shooting team is not a good fit. our lack of energy early allowed Georgetown to make the first half a half court game. I can't imagine how bad this team would be without CMA. yes, his double teaming defense will give up open looks, but it's our only chance to stay in games and avoid the half court games of attrition. Everyone needs to take a deep breath, and thank their lucky stars that Coach Anderson took this job.

This team can go undefeated for the rest of the season if 5 players show up including Heron. Last night only 3 showed up and two were bench players.
Coach Anderson is too smart to let players get too comfortable in their roles and will light a fire under them.

If Heron wakes up tomorrow morning as Michael Jordan, this team still doesn’t go undefeated the rest of the way.

I was thrilled to read the comments regarding accountability. I would say this is the primary reason I am all-in with our new Coach. It is just a fact that over the last few years no one was accountable for the play on the court. Wild shots that are just turnovers, zero intensity, no commitment to defense or rebound. I could go on and on. The game against Georgetown looked a lot like the last couple of seasons.

Now with all that being said, the Coach has put his finger on the problem but the trick will be fixing it before it gets out of control...yet again. I have faith that he will find a way forward.

I had posted previously on another thread that I thought Heron may have lost too much weight in the off season ? It’s a theory .. Boxers who lose too much weight before a Fight often don’t perform well as they have dried themselves out and lost energy . Too me , Heron seems too small compared to last year . I don’t think he was too bulky part Year as I thought Mullin had guys pretty much in shape to play a lot more minutes than Anderson does . Ponds, Simon played a lot of games over 30 minutes or more. Heron , when healthy and not in foul trouble , played more than he’s playing now . Of course , Anderson expends a lot of player energy on the defensive end , which Mullin did not do . Just an opinion ..

It is obvious no Big East level player or players were recruited during the Mullen coaching years. He and his staff left this school with players who belong in other leagues not the Big East. It will take years for Coach Anderson to right the ship. Hopefully, he will stick around long enough to complete the job. I, for one, am sick and tired of rebuilding years. This has gone along way too long. It might never happen with the way college basketball has been destroyed. No good players want to come to SJU any longer, how does someone change that attitude. All we get are transfers who obviously were not good where they started
