The kids on the other higher ranked teams never got to compete in this year's BE tournament.

The tournament is the reward for the hundreds of hours of practice throughout the year. I feel bad that this seasons athletes didn't get to experience it.

And according to the press release, none of the stats from today’s game will count towards lifetime stats. I really feel bad for the kids.

Look, I don't think anyone looks good or bad. This is a rapidly evolving situation, and everyone under the circumstances was trying to make the right decision for going forward in a revenue producing sport. Once an NBA player diagnosed was the catalyst for the NBA to suspend play, and the NHL suspended their season, simply playing in near empty arenas didn't seem good enough. As soon as major conferences started canceling their post season tourney, other had to follow suit. Once that happened, the NCAA had to change course from playing in empty arenas to cancelling the whole thing.

This is unchartered territory. Not since 9/11 have we had such a disruption to daily life, and this virus is on a global scale, not isolated devastating attacks. Yes, the number of deaths has been limited, but it is still unknown what the full impact of a widespread infection would have on our health system's ability to treat it.

Now, obviously, the world situation gives things a different feel, but it didn't feel much different then a blizzard day crowd.

It was definitely loud enough on TV. I was expecting stretches of eerie silence.

There was cluster of SJU fans behind our bench. Same with Creighton fans behind their bench. Sitting in the middle of our fan base, it seemed loud as hell most of the time. I’m glad to hear it sounded the same on TV, not that it matters much now. Great to be sitting with legends Panther and Beast of the East, amongst a number of other wonderful SJU fans.

As weird as it must seem being a fan watching form home, it was surreal being there. Really great to be there with Monte and Panther - both are wonderful guys. You realized in an instant, the team and game you were screaming for and about the entire first half was not coming out for the second half.

We are so emotionally invested in our team - so much more than the pro teams we root for. In an instant you realize that our rooting interest collided with the reality of life, and just like that reality of a virus won vs a game, and the activity of adults cheering for young men playing a game hardly matters. To me that's probably the greatest loss - the realization that in the grand scheme of things, this doesn't matter a heck of a lot. That notion will take a while to recover from.

Seeing the announcement during halftime that the game was not being played to conclusion has to be one of the oddest things I have ever seen.

The league couldn't have decided to cancel the rest of the tournament before the game began? Once a decision was made to let the kids play a half of the game, why not just let them finish it? Smh.............

Obviously when the game started, the intention was to play the game and the entire day and tournament to conclusion. When considering the up to the minute events, it became impossible to consider completing today's schedule, and that made the result meaningless. It would not be right to let teams play what resulted in an exhibition game with no intention of completing the tournament. It makes sense even if the most bizarre thing I've seen.

LJ was on his way to becoming SJU's alltime single season leader in made three pointers. Counting his three treys he made in the first half, he was only one behind D'Angelo Harrison.

Plus you gotta feel for the kid on Creighton who was no taller than the little ones that get halftime run on MSG court. He lit us up for 8 points in 7 minutes.

Man, I can't believe what happened over the past day. Still trying to process.

Really tough to think what could've been (as are at least 70-80 other teams), but we won big yesterday and also had a great half today. It's important that those games happened because they helped solidify this year as a successful one. Imagine if the cancellations happened a week earlier and we didn't beat Marquette, Georgetown, or half beat Creighton. The board should be optimistic for the next several months! This was the absolute best possible ending to the season given what we were capable of controlling.
