Was at that game and I remember cringing when Mark Jackson made some taunting gestures toward Pearl after making his first free throw. Remember thinking this might come back and bite him in the butt -- which it almost did. Not a very smart move on Mark's part.

Yep. It’s in the last video I posted I believe. Jax sometimes to cocky for his own good

Sitting in MSG watching SYU - SYR in 1985 was like watching two pro teams. The size and talent on the floor was awesome.

Every time I see Mark Jackson, one of my favorite Redmen, I recall him being considered only 3 rd best of the NY point guards, Pearl Washington and Kenny Smith . In the long run , Mark turned out to be the best of the trio and Rookie of the Year in the NBA with the Knicks

Would be interesting to rank them for their college careers separately from their pro careers. My ranking would be: College
Pearl, smith, Jackson
Pro
Jackson, Smith, Pearl

There was a fourth backcourtman that year , Kenny Hutchinson who was a highly rated recruit from the city who went to Arkansas. He may not have been a point guard. Quite a year for NYC guards.

If I remember correctly, he played the point in HS.
